Martin Zechner is the chief executive officer and founding member of Betterect (Pty) Ltd. Martin began his career in Klagenfurt, Austria in 1964 and has over 50 years experience in the fabrication, erection and corrosion protection industry. Martin immigrated to South Africa in the 1968 and established Betterect in 1974. Since its foundation, Martin has built Betterect into one of the top fabricating firms in South Africa with a reputation synonymous with top quality workmanship.
 
 
NICOLETTE SKJOLDHAMMER
Managing Director: Fabrication

Nicolette is a qualified chemical engineer and obtained her degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. After completing her degree, Nicolette joined Betterect in 2008 as the Sales and Marketing Manager and in 2011 was promoted to Managing Director of Fabrication.

Nicolette is responsible for the overall management of Betterect’s fabrication division as well as being responsible for fabrication costing and tender submissions. Nicolette together with Betterect’s Technical Director, David Jordan oversees production and fabrication operations and liaises with clients to ensure that our client’s expectations are met and exceeded.
 
 
DAVID JORDAN
Technical Director

David has extensive technical and practical knowledge and experience in the fabrication, erection and corrosion protection industry. David began his career as a boilermaker at Steinmüller in 1991 and joined Betterect in 1997. In 2001, David was promoted to Workshop Manager, Production Manager in 2008 and in 2011 was promoted to Technical Director.

David oversees all stages of fabrication and corrosion protection, i.e. pre-production planning and production control and supervision.
 
 
HEIDI BARTER
Commercial Manager

Heidi is an admitted attorney (non-practicing) in South Africa and an admitted solicitor (non-practicing) in England and Wales. Heidi gained her LLB degree (cum laude) from the Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg) and completed her articles at Bell Dewar and Hall Inc. After finishing her training contract, Heidi moved to London for two years and practiced as a corporate finance solicitor at Shepherd and Webberburn LLP. While at Shepherd and Webberburn, Heidi’s experience included, inter alia, acting for Leaf Clean Energy Company in its £200 million placing and flotation on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange plc on 28 June 2007 (The transaction was the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) fundraising on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market in the first half of 2007) and acting for Numis Securities Limited (Nominated Adviser and Broker) in raising £15.1 million by way of a section 89 (Companies Act 1985) compliant open offer on behalf of SMC Group plc and with the underwriting of the open offer by Ironshield Special Situations Master Fund LP.

Heidi returned to South Africa to join Betterect in 2008 as its Commercial Manager. Heidi is responsible for contract drafting, review and negotiation, risk management, working closely with project management, financial management, health and safety management, HR/employee management and marketing management.
